Results: Poppy Ridge, November 25, 2006
What a spectacular reminder of why we love to play golf in California. Rain
earlier in the week, cold wind the night before, rain the next day, but perfect
weather on the last Saturday in November. Clear skies with just a little wind
picking up in the afternoon. In fact, we had to accumulate outside afterwards
because of a wedding reception and the patio couldn't have been better for
this time of year.
This event was played with a two-person Best Ball team format. Teams, paired
together in each foursome, could work with each other (reading putts, club
choices, etc.) to try to achieve their best single score for each hole. Those
mastering the day shot score in the low 60s. Patel and Patel shot steady net
scores of 71 and 72, and a combined best ball score of 60. But, it was in true
ham'n'egg fashion that the next best score (61) went to the Utleys, who
individually shot net scores of 74 and 82! Conversely, Puthoff and Burke shot
the 2nd best individual scores of the 24 teams, but finished in the middle of the
Best Ball pack, overall. Results by flight:
