What a great day. Well for this time of year, at least. During a rainy week
before and after, a full field showed up in Milpitas for a decent day of golf. The
clouds held and light breeze were all that showed of the previous days'
downpour. In fact you wouldn't know it from the course which had few soggy
spots and greens that were extra quick -- but true.
We played with a two-person Best Ball team format. We had enough to form
three flights and the kind conditions along with lift-clean-place in effect
produced some very good scores and a very close competition. The top 11
teams overall were within 4 strokes. The top 3 teams in the A and the C flights
were tied and had to be ranked by tie-breaker.
The best ham'n'egg went to Dave Minter and Dave Kendall, the only team to
shoot a net 60 (12 under par). Toughest break went to John Jaravin and Andy
Sanchez who shot individual net scores of 69 and 70 but combine as a team to
finish 4th in the A flight. Here are all the pairings and team scores:
